La Cantonnière is a network of bicycle trails on the Val-Saint-François MRC territory, from north to south and east to west. This network is part of a province and country-wide network, namely the Route verte (Green Road) and the Transcanada Trail. La Cantonnière is made up of three trails - Sentier de la Rive, Sentier de la Vallée and Sentier de l’Ardoise which extend over 77 km.
The Sentier de la Rive meanders through the land on the left bank of the St-Francis river and connects the municipalities of Saint-François- Xavier-de-Brompton, Windsor, Melbourne and Richmond. The shelters enable cyclists to rest on the banks of this beautiful, fast-flowing river.
The Sentier de la Vallée wends its way through a landscape of rolling hills, valleys and pastures, offering its explorers inspiring vistas. Bird-watching here is particularly enjoyable and one can also observe the beaver's ingenuity, the grace and agility of deer and other wildlife which can be observed throughout the trails.
The sentier de l’Ardoise, which crosses the MRC from East to West, enables you to travel through the municipalities of Melbourne, Kingsbury, Racine, Valcourt, Lawrenceville and Bonsecours. Partly on roads, partly on trails, this trail offers beautiful scenery and an enjoyable ride.
